Statistics 12 Online
OpenStudy (emguy511):

I am trying to figure out which statistical technique to use to analyze the data for a research scenario. A rating survey and an interval scale of measurement will be used. The rating survey would be used to test mood before/after drinking coffee. Can someone help me decide what the most appropriate statistical technique would be? Thanks!

OpenStudy (evoker):

I think you are trying to if two sets statistically have the same or different means.

OpenStudy (evoker):

So unpaired t-test perhaps

OpenStudy (emguy511):

Thank you so much, Evoker, for your response. That is what I was thinking but wasn't for sure. I am using a 3 point rating scale (with numerical values for each rating) to rate the mood in each participant- before and after having coffee. So each individual would complete the rating scale twice (before/after). Would this still be the unpaired t-test or would it be a paired t-test?

OpenStudy (evoker):

Now that is exactly the description of a paired t-test.

OpenStudy (emguy511):

Ok! Great! Thank you so much for your help! I appreciate it!
