@Evoker

OpenStudy (evoker):

Ahh well let see do you know the energy of a photon?

OpenStudy (kittykat):

i know one formula Ep=Ek+w?

OpenStudy (evoker):

something like that anyways you need to find the energy of the photon and compare it to the energy of the Work function.

OpenStudy (evoker):

And yes the difference will give you the kinetic energy of the electron

OpenStudy (evoker):

So anyways the energy of a photon is hf, so take that and subtract the work function to find the kinetic energy of the photon.

OpenStudy (evoker):

Finally to find the stopping potential you need a potential so that the work done by the potential reduces the kinetic energy to 0, or eV=Ek from your equation.

Millikan and the photoelectric effect. Professor Millikan, that is, Nobel Laureate couple of things enclosed. A short version and a longer version. miaow.
