OpenStudy (savy):

\[\frac{ x+y }{ 2 }+\frac{ x-7 }{ 2 }=7\] \[x=\frac{ y }{ 2 }+6\] Solve the system of equations

OpenStudy (savy):

solve by addition.

OpenStudy (lord_box):

First thing is to clean up the first equation a bit. Notice that both of the fractions have a common denominator, which means you can combine them.

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

(x+y)/2 + (x−7)/2 = 7 x/2 +y/2 +x/2 -7/2 = 7 x + y/2 -7/2 = 7 a) x + y/2 = 10.5 b) x - y/2 = -6 Can you solve it from there?
