Three guys rent a hotel room for the night. When they get to the hotel they pay the $30fee, then go up to their room. Soon the bellhop brings up their bags and gives the lawyers back $5 because the hotel was having a special discount that weekend. So the three lawyers decide to each keep one of the $5 dollars and to give the bellhop a $2 tip. However, when they sat down to tally up their expenses for the weekend the could not explain the following details:
Each one of them had originally paid $10 (towards the initial $30), then each got back $1 which meant that they each paid $9. Then they gave the bellhop a $2 tip. HOWEVER, 3 • $9 + $2 = $29 The guys couldn't figure out what happened to the other dollar. After all, the three paid out $30 but could only account for $29. Can you determine what happened? @agent0smith
just a riddle..n hv two answers.. xD
Hotel has in its possession, in order: $30 $25 $27 And the guys have $3 between them. All money is accounted for. They each paid $9 to the hotel, which is including the tip. They do math weirdly.
Indeed.. xD Thank you @agent0smith ^
" paid $10 (towards the initial $30), then each got back $1 which meant that they each paid $9" They're wrong. They got back $1.67 and then each gave 67c to the bellhop, so he has $2, the hotel has $25, and they have $3. This is just a lesson in not doing math in... ways that make no sense to me.
haha..xD Nice one! @agent0smith
lol, i'm trying to wrap my head around how they even did their math
xD Agree..haha
Oh I think I see... they counted the money for the tip separately somehow, which would mean by their logic, their was actually $32 in total... $27 to the hotel in addition to a $2 tip, as well as $3 in their possession.
I'm surprised they didn't realize that and then mistakenly complain about being overcharged, those damn jewy lawyers
haha..not bad.. creative! @agent0smith
Thanks for trying.. @agent0smith ^
"just a riddle..n hv two answers.. xD" Then what is the other answer?
Hold on..i will show the answer to u.. ^
Another way to think about the answer to this riddle is to just pretend that the bellhop refunded $3 to the lawyers (rather than giving them $5 and receiving $2 back). If the lawyers get $3 back and each takes $1. They they spent exactly $27 dollars.
@agent0smith
Oh yeah that works.
Like my original method of tracking how much money the hotel had.
*thumbs up*
