Create a real-life scenario in which you show how you interpret key features of functions and graphs such as slope and y-intercept.

OpenStudy (photon336):

I have 300 dollars in a bank account and each month it increases by 12 dollars.

OpenStudy (photon336):

the y intercept is the point on the graph when your x value is zero. so starting out I have 300 dollars to begin with. that would be my y intercept. my slope is my rate of change in y/x. I know that each month my account is growing by 12 dollars so: \[y = 12x+300 \]

OpenStudy (adfksfnads):

Would this work? I have $204 in the bank right now. I just started a job and I get 8.30 an hour. I work 25 hours a week and get paid bi-weekly. How much will I have at the end of the month?

OpenStudy (photon336):

I would make this even simpler. I would get rid of the bi weekly thing. it just makes it more complicated. I have 204 dollars in the bank right now, and i get paid 8.30 an hour. 8.30x+204 = y
