Help me find my errors? I have to fix some questions that I got incorrect for the end of my math course. As I got them wrong, I don't understand how to do them correctly. Any help is much appreciated! Note: The answers I have displayed under the questions are incorrect.

Question 1: Use ΔDEF, shown below, to answer the question that follows: Triangle DEF where angle E is a right angle. DE measures 55. EF measures x. Angle D measures 49 degrees. What is the value of x rounded to the nearest hundredth? Type the numeric answer only in the box below. I got 36.8 for this one.

Question 2: An observer (O) spots a plane (P) taking off from a local airport and flying at a 33° angle horizontal to her line of sight and located directly above a tower (T). The observer also notices a bird (B) circling directly above her. If the distance from the plane(P) to the tower (T) is 7,000 ft., how far is the bird (B) from the plane (P)? Round to the nearest whole number. I got 3815 feet for this one.

Question 3: An hourglass consists of two sets of congruent composite figures on either end. Each composite figure is made up of a cone and a cylinder, as shown below: Each cone of the hourglass has a height of 12 millimeters. The total height of the sand within the top portion of the hourglass is 47 millimeters. The radius of both the cylinder and cone is 4 millimeters. Sand drips from the top of the hourglass to the bottom at a rate of 10π cubic millimeters per second. How many seconds will it take until all of the sand has dripped to the bottom of the hourglass?

^ My answer for that one was 6.4.

Question 4: The Pretty Pizza Company wants to open a new pizza place either on the north side of town or the south side of town. They want to open the pizza place where the ratio of pizza places per person is less than 0.01. The population of 15 blocks of the north side of town is 221 people per block, but there are already 32 pizza places in the area. The population of 22 blocks of the south area is 150 people per block, and there are 28 pizza places in the area. Where, if anywhere, should the Pretty Pizza Company open a new pizza place? My answer was the south side of town.

It would be better for you to post these one at a time. One problem per thread. That way we can focus on them individually to avoid lag and clutter.

OpenStudy (math_genius12345):

@jim_thompson5910 I would, but it only allows me to ask one question at a time :(

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I know. We would work on one at a time. For now, let's just focus on problem 1

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

anyways, how did you get 36.8 for problem 1?

OpenStudy (math_genius12345):

@jim_thompson5910 I don't remember, which makes it harder to find the right answer. For all I know, I could have guessed on this one.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

do you remember which trig function you used?
