OpenStudy (whoopsmehnoknow):

I might know the answer but mehnoknow What is the value of z for the equation fraction 1 over 3z = −fraction 5 over 6 + fraction 1 over 6z? 5 2 −2 −5

OpenStudy (whoopsmehnoknow):

i think its b or c

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Please, would you drop the "mehnoknow" part? Then, please express your equation in symbolically (no words). "fraction 1 over 3z" should appear as\[\frac{ 1 }{ 3z }\]

OpenStudy (whoopsmehnoknow):

i am new to this so i do not know how to do that

OpenStudy (whoopsmehnoknow):

and its apart of my name "WhoopsMehNoKnow" as in i do not know

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Please show your actual work; it helps neither you nor me if you say "I think it's b or c." Why do you "think it's b or c?"

OpenStudy (whoopsmehnoknow):

Thats why i am asking cause i am not for sure and i have no idea on how to work it out some guy i asked before did not tell me how he got it.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Do you actually want to be known for not knowing? In your shoes I'd change to a more flattering name than "mehnoknow."

OpenStudy (whoopsmehnoknow):

i need someone to work it out with me since i do not actually know how to work out fractions

OpenStudy (whoopsmehnoknow):

the only reason i come on this website is if i do not know how to work out an answer....so can we get to the actual question...

OpenStudy (mathmale):

"1 over 3z" becomes\[\frac{ 1 }{ 3z }\]\[\frac{ 1 }{ 3z }\]

OpenStudy (whoopsmehnoknow):

ik

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Your turn: convert the 2nd expression (in words) to its symbolic equivalent.

OpenStudy (whoopsmehnoknow):

......i do not know how since i am new to this websiteeeee

OpenStudy (whoopsmehnoknow):

if it is such a huge deal i can just ask someone else

OpenStudy (mathmale):

I expect some effort on your part, and your being new to this web site has little or nothing to do with my request that you write "- fraction 5 over 6" properly.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Please re-write "-fraction 5 over 6" symbolically.

OpenStudy (whoopsmehnoknow):

my effort is going into knowing how to do an equation

OpenStudy (whoopsmehnoknow):

what i need help with is knowing how to do a problem not for someone to criticize how i right out an equation even though they know exactly what i mean...

OpenStudy (mathmale):

If you don't want to solve this problem and learn something from the process, I'd suggest you come back when you do want to solve it. Converting from words to correct math symbols is a skill that you really need now and will need in the future.

OpenStudy (whoopsmehnoknow):

...i have been asking for someone to help me but you are the only person to respond but just to criticize my name and the way i type out equations on A WEBSITE i just signed up for...

OpenStudy (whoopsmehnoknow):

the only thing i know how to actually do is 1 over 3 not the stuff you are doing so if you do not feel like helping then you can just leave plz and thankyou

OpenStudy (whoopsmehnoknow):

Like i have been saying multiple times before is that i do not know how to do fractions that is why i am on this website in the first place...

OpenStudy (whoopsmehnoknow):

my name should not have anything to do with my work at all...

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Did you read what I said just a moment ago: You need to develop the skill of changing a math expression expressed in words to the equivalent expression expressed symbolically. Put some effort into this, please. How do you write "five over six" symbolically?

OpenStudy (whoopsmehnoknow):

and did you not see what i said moments ago: I do not know how to do that...I only know how to do 1 over 3...

OpenStudy (whoopsmehnoknow):

i am not ignoring what you are saying its just that i do not know how to do so...

OpenStudy (mathmale):

You don't need to use the more sophisticated OpenStudy features. "five over six" is written as 5/6. Now write this symbolically: "negative five over six."

OpenStudy (whoopsmehnoknow):

to me 5/6 means 5 divided by 6 and since you know what 5 over 6 is why is it such a HUGE deal for me to write it out...i was taught old school math not this NOW would someone just help plz
