Which of the following is an effect of the French and Indian War on Great Britain? Britain's wealth grew quickly because of the new territory. Britain encouraged settlers to move to Florida and New Orleans. Britain encouraged settlers to move west of the Appalachian Mountains. Britain's debt from the war caused higher taxes for the American colonists

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

So the people in British North America are living their lives, putting keys on kites and reading Poor Richard's Almanac. France and Britain decide to go another round at war. They always did. But this time, they each have claims in North America. So, naturally, they did some of the fighting here. One thing leads to another. War, war, war. and the Brits win. They can't help but notice that the colonials got a pretty good deal out of the peace. More English land in North America, lots of Indians cleaned out, no threat from French troops in the Ohio Valley and no threat from French ships at sea. Life was good. But war cost money. And the king sees all the prosperity that the colonies are having. He thinks maybe the colonists should help pay for all this good stuff. Seems fair. So Parliament created taxes just for the colonies. Nobody else had to pay them, just the colonists who got the good deal. The colonists go crazy with tea parties and shooting and all that stuff.
