OpenStudy (jeremiahclare):

Score Number of Students 0 2 1 1 2 3 3 6 4 2 5 3 6 2

OpenStudy (liziekay):

Question?

OpenStudy (jeremiahclare):

Based on the table, what is the mean hockey score? 2.7 2.9 3.2 5.2

OpenStudy (liziekay):

How do you find mean?

OpenStudy (jeremiahclare):

add them up and then divide

OpenStudy (liziekay):

So what do you get?

OpenStudy (liziekay):

We can compare answers

OpenStudy (jeremiahclare):

add the number of students or just add both of them

OpenStudy (liziekay):

The hockey scores

OpenStudy (jeremiahclare):

ok

OpenStudy (liziekay):

I assumed it was the decimal numbers..

OpenStudy (jeremiahclare):

i got 14

OpenStudy (liziekay):

Same, I'm pretty sure that's the answer!

OpenStudy (jeremiahclare):

i keep losing connection

OpenStudy (basically):

divide 14 by 4.

OpenStudy (liziekay):

Were the decimal numbers the hockey scores?

OpenStudy (jeremiahclare):

wait ur not suppose to add the hockey scores

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

14 is wrong

OpenStudy (jeremiahclare):

ik its wrong

OpenStudy (jeremiahclare):

so wht do u add

OpenStudy (liziekay):

I'm not understanding what you are supposed to add, the decimal numbers or the other numbers to find the mean..

OpenStudy (basically):

add the numbers up & then count how many numbers(in this case, scores) you have. definition from google: Mean is just another name for average. To find the mean of a data set, add all the values together and divide by the number of values in the set. The result is your mean.

OpenStudy (jeremiahclare):

2.7 i think

OpenStudy (liziekay):

Were they supposed to add all the numbers?

OpenStudy (jeremiahclare):

if u add the scores then its 3 and 3 is not of my answers

OpenStudy (basically):

add the all of the scores, which gives you 14. then, divide that by 4.

OpenStudy (liziekay):

oh, I added the answers and divided by 4. silly me.

OpenStudy (basically):

14 / 4 = 3.5

OpenStudy (liziekay):

What did you get as your answer? I got 2.857

OpenStudy (liziekay):

3.5 is not in the answers..

OpenStudy (jeremiahclare):

i got 2.7 and random number at the end

OpenStudy (jeremiahclare):

3.5 in not a answer i think its 2.7

OpenStudy (liziekay):

hmm I got 2.857

OpenStudy (basically):

it should be 3.5 ? everything i did was correct.

OpenStudy (liziekay):

Did you add all the numbers and divide by 14 not 4?

OpenStudy (jeremiahclare):

ima go with 2.7

OpenStudy (liziekay):

kk

OpenStudy (jeremiahclare):

thxxs for trying tho
