A farmer was counting his cows and chickens. He counted 13 heads and 36 legs. How many cows does he have? A. 5 B. 8 C. 9 D. 18 Will Medal XD

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

What do you think it is?

OpenStudy (kingkool567):

I think B or C.

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

It can't be either of those because cows have four legs, and chickens have two. B. Would come out to be 32 legs and C. would could to be 36 legs. And that's already too much because you gotta include the chickens also.

OpenStudy (kingkool567):

Oh.

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Do you understand?

OpenStudy (kingkool567):

Is it A? XD

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Yes! Because that would be 20 legs and then with 8 chickens that 16 legs and that equals the 36 legs we were looking for.

OpenStudy (kingkool567):

Yay! Thank you for the help. XD
