A spinner is divided into sections of equal size, some of which are red, some are blue, and the remaining are green. The probability of the arrow landing on a section colored red is 25%. The probability of the arrow landing on a section colored blue is 10%. What is the probability of the arrow landing on a section colored green? 10% 25% 35% 65%

@mathmate @zepdrix @southernbelle00 @imqwerty

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

P(Red) + P(Blue) + P(Green) = 1 plug in the probability of getting blue and red and solve for probability of getting green

OpenStudy (mathmate):

I believe the beginning of the question should read: "A spinner is divided into sections of \(\color{red}{un}\)equal size, ...." or else the question is confusing/contradictory.

OpenStudy (jenessa_2413):

?

OpenStudy (jenessa_2413):

i dont understand what you said

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Mathmate, I agree but maybe the spinner has 100 equal pieces and red has a 25 pieces from it, and blue has 10 pieces, mhmm

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@TheSmartOne I share the same interpretation as yours, except that the OP should understand the duty of verifying the correctness of the question. In this case, the proper interpretation may be obvious because information is fortunately redundant, but in other cases, typos would lead to wild-goose chases.

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@TheSmartOne Wait, I understand what you mean, yes, that is a possible case. In that case, I retract what I said! lol

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@jenessa_2413 @TheSmartOne gave me a feasible interpretation of the question, so I apologize for my comments above, which are not applicable! :(

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

It's alright! It happens to the best of us <3

OpenStudy (mathmate):

TSO :) Thank you!

OpenStudy (jenessa_2413):

thanks guys i got the answer it is 65%

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

That's correct :)
