James Madison was an ardent federalist who helped write the Federalist Papers. Why would he argue the Articles of Confederation were weak? Give at least two examples of the weaknesses of the Articles.

Madison was the main man behind the Constitution. A real behind the scenes guy. Apparently he had a weak speaking voice so he had no problem letting others do the speechifying in Philadelphia.
Some problems with A0C:
Weak executive
all states had 1 vote no matter the size or population
no real way for States to settle differences among or between themselves
Shay's rebellion illustrates many problems, the national government had to ask the states for money, States paid, or not, at different rates. So national was always low on funds.
Rev War veterans weren't being paid pensions/back pay. Farmers who can't pay taxes are getting land taken by govt. Shay and company start closing down courthouses in western Massachusetts. National government can't recruit many soldiers to stop Shay. No money to pay them. Rebellion put down by mostly private militia.
Pretty much the last straw for AoC. It wasn't working.
