OpenStudy (abbles):

Check my answer?

OpenStudy (abbles):

For #5, I got: a = 29.27 degrees b = 126.69 c = 24.04 Those are all angle measures.

OpenStudy (abbles):

I've checked my work a thousand times, but this is saying the answers are slightly off... http://www.mathwarehouse.com/triangle-calculator/online.php

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Hmm I got 33.54 degrees for A.

OpenStudy (phi):

I get different numbers

zepdrix (zepdrix):

\[\large\rm 270^2=442.85^2+255^2-2\cdot442.85\cdot255\cos A\]This is how you set it up, yes? :o

OpenStudy (phi):

c^2 = a^2 + b^2 - 2 a b cos C so cos C= (c^2 -a^2-b^2)/ (-2 a b)

OpenStudy (abbles):

I did the second equation that phi gave... \[Cos(C) = \frac{ 270^2+442.85^2-225^2 }{ 2*270*442.85 }\]

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Oh solving for angle C instead? :d ok fair enough. Negative in the bottom? no no you already took care of that :x ok ok

OpenStudy (phi):

and you should get cos C = 0.85302

OpenStudy (abbles):

I got 0.913239... D:

OpenStudy (phi):

it was a pain to find: C is 255

OpenStudy (phi):

and you are using C= 225

OpenStudy (abbles):

Ahhh xD thanks

OpenStudy (abbles):

Wait... but C does equal 225 :/

zepdrix (zepdrix):

That's not what the picture says you silly billy sack of pebbles :O

OpenStudy (phi):

are you doing Q5?

OpenStudy (abbles):

side C is the one opposite angle c right? 225...

OpenStudy (abbles):

I'm so confused o.O

OpenStudy (phi):

Here is a rule of thumb when tracking down a problem: "If you get the wrong answer, you are doing something wrong" remember the last part: I did something wrong. if you think you did it correctly, then you have to say: No, I am doing something wrong. I learned that debugging "perfect" computer programs.

OpenStudy (phi):

can "expand" the question and zero in on side C. what does the label say? can you post it, showing 225 ?

OpenStudy (abbles):

I don't understand what I"m doing wrong though... clearly I did something wrong.. I just dunno what

OpenStudy (abbles):

The side opposite C is 225... no? :O
