Okay, this should help: metaphor - a resemblance of two contradictory or different objects is made based on a single or some common characteristics. Ex. Aaliyah was a cheetah, sprinting on the track. hyperbole - exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally. Ex. My grandmother is as old as the hills. or Your suitcase weighs a ton! personification - giving human qualities to a non-living object Ex. The wind howled and screamed. simile - comparing two different objects using like or as, kind of like a metaphor, but a metaphor does not use like or as. Ex. Aaliyah was running as fast as a cheetah
