@Evoker

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

@sshayer

OpenStudy (sshayer):

no,check again. can you show me your work?

OpenStudy (sshayer):

\[\frac{ y-2 }{ 12 }=\frac{ 4 }{ 5 },y-2=?\]

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

Since the triangles are said to be similar, I took the ratio of 5/4 = 1.25 and I divided 12 by 1.25, which came out to be 9.6. To make sure, I did 12/9.6 = 1.25, so I concluded that 9.6 is the length of DE

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

@sshayer

OpenStudy (sshayer):

\[y-2=\frac{ 4 }{ 5 }\times 12=\frac{ 48 }{ 5 }=9.6\] y=9.6+2=?

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

9.6 + 2 = 11.6, but the question isn't asking for the value of y, it is asking for the length of DE

OpenStudy (sshayer):

oh you are correct. sorry ,i did not see properly. Actually i am seeing voice of Punjab on PTC.

OpenStudy (sshayer):

they are asking for y-2

OpenStudy (quickstudent):
