A baker orders 162 eggs. Each carton contains 18 eggs. Which equation can you use to find the number x of cartons? Explain your reasoning and solve the equation. A. 162x=18 B. x/18=162 C. 18x=162 D. x + 18= 162 I know it isn't D, but i'm pretty sure its between C and B. Can you help me choose?
Why do you believe the answer is C?
Wait, I wrote out C wrong. Its 18x=162
B is 18x = 162.
Clarify for me, please.
*c
Sorry, its late at night. I'm not typing right. C is 18x=162 But it feels like its between C and B because A and D don't feel like it fits the word problem.
What's the answer for B and C?
Tell me the difference, if you don't mind me.
Its a multiple choice question, the answers are on the top.
Oh, you edited it, okay. So can you explain to me why you think it's B or C? I will guide you through it.
Well, C is the right answer because you are trying to find the number of cartons. 1 carton has 18. 2 has 36. Therefore if you have 162 eggs and you have 18 eggs in one carton. Then the correct way is to divide. 162/18. To get x in answer C is to divide 18 from x.
I feel likes its B or C because A and D don't feel like they fit the problem. Its asking for how many cartons of eggs there are (x) so I don't think i'll be adding anything in D. A is putting 162 with X, so I don't think thats right either. So basically I just used process of elimination to get B or C.
Bunny12, you are not supposed to tell the person the answer right away. You must allow them to figure it out with guidance.
But, yes, the answer is C, as bunny12 stated.
I'm sorry. In my perspective, I like seeing the answer and working backwards. I will take this into consideration next time.
I would have prefered to have been guided, because that feels like cheating. Either way, thank you both of you. Bunny i think you might be new to openstudy, judging by your smart score. Make sure not to give someone the answer like that again.
Yes, I am new to Open Study.
It's all good. (:
Do you need anymore help, avodcado?
I think i'll be ok, i'll close this. Thank you c:
Of course! Tag me if you ever need anymore help!
@Vuriffy @Bunny12 did not do anything wrong because yes she gave the answer, but she explained it as well
although yes, she shud not have given the answer directly
