Can anyone explain what does it mean photon in Quantum Theory for me? Tq

OpenStudy (osprey):

Where once a beam of light was thought of solely as a continuous wave, Quantum Theory suggested that it could be thought of as a series of PHOTONS, or "light particles" streaming along. Take reflection from a mirror. A whole pile of these photons (loads of them) hit the mirror, and sort of bounce off. So, basically a photon is a "Quantum or particle of light", I guess.
