OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

4^6 x 4^-8 is equivalent to? I believed 1/4^2. Possible answers: 1/4^14 4^2 4^14

OpenStudy (hayisforhorses):

I think it's 4^2, but you may be right

OpenStudy (hayisforhorses):

Exponent rules state that when multiplying two numbers with exponents, you instead add the exponents. 6 + -8 = 2 That's how I got 4^2

OpenStudy (hayisforhorses):

Oops i read it wrong sorry

OpenStudy (hayisforhorses):

You were completely right! :)

OpenStudy (welshfella):

add the exponents this gives 4^-2 = 1 / 4^2

OpenStudy (blowery):

Shouldn't the answer be 1/16?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

1/16 is the same as 1/4^2
