A dormitory purchased a new 52-inch HD television for $2632 this year. This was a price that was 6% less than the one they purchased last year. How much was the television that they purchased last year?

OpenStudy (jtug6):

Ok so you know that the television set they currently bought was $2,632, and that it's 6% LESS than what they had bought the year prior to. So first things first what should we do to the 2632 and the 6%?

OpenStudy (asapolous):

2632*.06=157.92 and you do 2632+157.92? right

OpenStudy (jtug6):

Yup! exactly

OpenStudy (asapolous):

yes, i put that in but it says im wrong

OpenStudy (asapolous):

like the question is simple, but its saying i am wrong

OpenStudy (jtug6):

Hmm thats odd maybe you and I are overlooking something. let me look at this for a bit and see cause it might be trickier (although it seems simple enough) sec

OpenStudy (asapolous):

the answer is somehow 2800
