OpenStudy (quickstudent):

image attached,. question: Find the value of x in the figure below. Show all steps. my answer: 9x - 5 = 158 - 64 9x - 5 = 94 9x - 5 + 5 = 94 + 5 9x = 99 9x/9 = 99/9 x = 11

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

Woops, I just caught a mistake. let me correct it..........

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

OK, here's my new answer. is this correct? 9x - 5 = (1/2)(158 - 64) 9x - 5 = (1/2 * 158) - (1/2 * 64) 9x - 5 = 79 - 32 9x - 5 = 47 9x - 5 + 5 = 47 + 5 9x = 52 9x/9 = 52/9 x = 5 7/9

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Good, hope you found the mistake. See http://www.regentsprep.org/regents/math/geometry/gp15/circleangles.htm under "two secants".
