Might help: http://www.math.fsu.edu/~kutter/evenodd.pdf

OpenStudy (sshayer):

\[f(x)=\frac{ \left| x \right| }{ x^2+a },f(-x)=\frac{ \left| -x \right| }{ (-x)^2+a }=\frac{ \left| x \right| }{ x^2+a }=f(x)\] f(x) is even' if f(-x)=-f(x),then f(x) is odd.

OpenStudy (pflori1234_pop):

thank you so much! @sshayer

OpenStudy (pflori1234_pop):

so for the next one would it be: -x(-x^4 +7) and then when you distribute you get x^2 +7 which is even?

OpenStudy (pflori1234_pop):

@sshayer

OpenStudy (sshayer):

\[f(-x)=-x \left\{ \left( -x \right)^4+7 \right\}=-x(x^4+7)=-f(x)\]

OpenStudy (sshayer):

which is odd.
