Interval Notation??? Parabola

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

ok let's focus on the domain for now

OpenStudy (blondie_b23):

-4 and 4 [-4,4] Right?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

it turns out that the domain is the set of all real numbers. It looks like the graph stops but with any parabola, it really goes on forever. There should be arrows pointing down to indicate that the graph goes down forever like this |dw:1472429749759:dw|

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

|dw:1472429770571:dw|

OpenStudy (blondie_b23):

So, the range is infinite?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so basically, the only reason why it looks like it stops is because the window cuts the graph off

OpenStudy (blondie_b23):

okay

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so you agree that the domain would be \(\Large (-\infty, \infty)\) ?

OpenStudy (blondie_b23):

Isn't that the range?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

no
