OpenStudy (quickstudent):

Is this correct? area of circle word problem

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

correct

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@quickstudent \(Your\) answer is correct.

OpenStudy (faiqraees):

Answer is correct

OpenStudy (retireed):

It would help us if you show your work, so we know you didn't just guess at an answer.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

\(A = \pi r^2 = \pi \times (15~ft)^2 = 225 \pi ~ft^2 \approx 707~ft^2\)

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

How would I guess? you really can't just GUESS what a multiple choice answer could be. Besides, when I do multiple choice questions I do the work mentally

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

I've have seen many of @quickstudent 's posts asking if an answer is correct. Most of them are, so I know it cannot be just guesses.

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

Thanks, @mathstudent55 :)

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@quickstudent I have the same opinion as @mathstudent55 that from your previous work, we can tell that you actually did your work to get the answer. As we have many other students who make guesses to show "work", I understand where @retirEEd came from. By the way, did you work this out mentally? I did, pi r^2 = 15^2 pi = 225 pi = 3*225 +(1/7)225=675+32 = 707 which is one of the answers. Did you go along the same idea, mentally?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Once you do 15^2 = 225 mentally, the final answer is easy because the incorrect choices are very far off. 225 * pi must be somewhat more than 675. 707 is reasonable. 47, 94, and 2827 are way off.
