OpenStudy (brettnorman):

If h=p/n what does p equal?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

The goal is to isolate p. In other words, get p to its own side and have everything else on the other side. To do this, you'll have to undo the division of 'n'. What is the opposite of division?

OpenStudy (brettnorman):

I do realize you must multiply the n to both sides which cancel out the n under p. So would my answer be nh=p?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes \(\Large \color{blue}{ p = nh}\)

OpenStudy (brettnorman):

Does it matter if I write it p=nh or nh=p.does that make a difference

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

no it doesn't matter x = y is the same as y = x

OpenStudy (kg1975):

it doesnt make any difference i had this same question as u and i put nh=p

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

p = nh is more common since you list the isolated variable first on the left side nh = p is still valid

OpenStudy (brettnorman):

Another one I'm stuck on, A=1/2bh walk me threw this

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

which letter are you trying to solve for?

OpenStudy (brettnorman):

h

OpenStudy (brettnorman):

I'm not sure what to do with the fraction multiply by the denominator?

OpenStudy (kg1975):

a = 1/2bh Solve for h. To solve for a variable means to isolate the variable on one side of the equation. NOTE: We can write (1/2)(bh) as one fraction like this (bh/2). They mean the same thing. We now have this: a = (bh/2) We multiply both sides of the fractional equation by 2. This is done to remove the fraction. Doing this we now have a linear equation: 2a = bh We now divide both sides of the equation by h to find the value of b. Final answer: (2a/b) = h Did you follow?

OpenStudy (kg1975):

If u need any other help! i make help rooms for ppl who have extra questions!

OpenStudy (kg1975):

just message me and im there! XD

OpenStudy (kg1975):

Anything Else?

OpenStudy (kg1975):

I've nothing but time XD

OpenStudy (brettnorman):

If I have 2/3x=4 do i start by multiplying by 3 to bothsides

OpenStudy (kg1975):

Yes And this board is getting full do u want me to make a empty help room? i do that for many ppl who need help

OpenStudy (kg1975):

ik the answer to that equation XD

OpenStudy (kg1975):

im gonna make a help room this board keeps going up and down its to full DX
