Which of the following describes a reason that colonial New England tended to have only small family farms?

Rocks, lots of rocks. That's why you see so many rock walls in NE. The land had to be cleared to farm. Also rivers. Not navigable rivers. (Except the Hudson) But fast moving, lots of rapids rivers. Because: Rocks.

OpenStudy (advert):

Well less people farmed because it could more easily be shipped to them on a train I guess. It's faster, cheaper, and easier
