Find the solution(s) to 2x^2-7x+3=0. Check all that apply A.x=2 B=X=-1/2 C.x=1/2 D.x=3 E.x=-3

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Because this equation is a quadratic, it will produce 2 solutions. Review solutions of quadratic equations. Which methods have you used before? quadratic formula factoring completing the square graphing there are several other methods that would also apply if you chose them.

OpenStudy (faiqraees):

@mathmale A quadratic equation will only give one solution if its root is a repeated root.

OpenStudy (briensmarandache):

If you still need help try factoring using the ac method

OpenStudy (mathmale):

@FaiqRaees: All quadratics have two solutions. In the case you mention, a "repeated root," such roots are called "real, equal roots." This is the outcome when the discriminant b^2-4ac is zero. The other two possible outcomes are "real, unequal roots," which occutrs when the discriminant is positive, " and "complex roots," which occurs when the discriminant is negative. "Repeated roots" implies more than one root; why insist that in some cases a quadratic has only one root?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

@ambermarie151: Please choose and apply at least one of these methods to solve the quadratic equation at hand. You'll get the most meaningful feedback if you'd do that.
