OpenStudy (herpderp):

In order to connect a dvd player to a tv set you need a cable with a special adaptor at both ends. An eight foot cable costs 24.50 and a four foot cable costs 15.50.The total cost is the sum of the cost the adaptors and the cost of the cable itself. What would you expect to pay for a six foot cable?

OpenStudy (aveline):

We have two cables, one that is 8 feet long and one that is 4 feet long. If we combine the length of these two cables, we get 12 feet. The cost for these two cables is $40.00. If it costs $40.00 for 12 feet of cable, can you figure out how much 6 feet will cost?

OpenStudy (herpderp):

$20.00 but our teacher wants us to use systems of equations to solve it, so how would I write that?

OpenStudy (aveline):

I'm not sure how to use a systems of equations with this...

OpenStudy (herpderp):

Oh, alright then :/

OpenStudy (alekos):

8x = 24.50 & 4x = 15.50 Where x = cost per foot of cable
