NvidiaIntely (nvidiaintely):

Vinegar is commonly sold as a 5 percent (v/v) solution of acetic acid in water. This measurement means which of the following? 5 grams of acetic acid/100 grams of solution 5 grams of acetic acid/100 grams of water 5 mL of acetic acid/100 mL of solution 5 mL of acetic acid/100 mL of water

NvidiaIntely (nvidiaintely):

is it C?

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Please explain how you made your choice, and if there is difficulty, you can read the question again.

OpenStudy (suenahelpz):

Well, we can eliminate the first two so that we have C and D left since it is %5 v/v solution, v/v meaning volume over volume. Though, there is a small difference between 100mL of solution and 100 mL of water. Usually, percent solutions are done per 100mL of total solution, NOT the solvent used to make it. Thus making your guess correct.

NvidiaIntely (nvidiaintely):

Thanks!

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@suenahelpz We don't make \(guesses\) even for multiple choices. Making choices by elimination is already risky. You explained the reasoning well, so I know you did not make a guess for this one, and I hope you don't make guesses for other problems! By the way, I believe @NvidiaIntely did not guess. He worked out the same logic as you did.

NvidiaIntely (nvidiaintely):

You are right @mathmate, I did not "guess". I worked it out like @Suenahelpz.
