OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

Capitalizing "Great Debates" usually refers to the big questions that are often discussed but never really answered to everyone's satisfaction. eg. Is there a God? What is the meaning of life? Ford or Chevy? Looking at the Nixon/Kennedy debates were unique in American politics because they were the first to be televised. Not everybody had television though so it had interesting results. Nixon won with radio listeners. Kennedy had Addison disease which caused his skin to be lighter. Nixon was sweating at times and looked worse. Neither used makeup. Kennedy looked better on TV and won the debate among TV viewers.
