OpenStudy (tenna):

Find the values of x and y so that ABCD will be a parallelogram

OpenStudy (tenna):

I have the answer to x and y but I don't know how my teacher did it. I've been on this question forever and I have to know it by tomorrow because I have a test on it

OpenStudy (phi):

is there a picture ?

OpenStudy (tenna):

I don't know how to post pictures on this

OpenStudy (phi):

make a screen shot then use "attach file" (see button below the input box)

OpenStudy (tenna):

I don't see that. I took the picture on my phone and I don't see the button

OpenStudy (phi):

Here is what it looks like, if you use a computer

OpenStudy (phi):

maybe you can try to explain the problem? I assume they labeled the 4 angles in the figure ? If so, you know its a parallelogram if "opposite" angles are equal

OpenStudy (tenna):

I'm going to switch to a computer hold on

OpenStudy (tenna):

there it is

OpenStudy (tenna):

OpenStudy (phi):

ok, you need to know ABCD is a parallelogram if opposite sides are equal

OpenStudy (phi):

and that leads to (by side-side-side) the two triangles are congruent (but flipped) if that makes sense we then use "corresponding parts of congruent triangles" to know 4x = 24 and y -10= 32

OpenStudy (phi):

in other words it takes quite a bit of "thinking" to follow the logic: |dw:1473373683594:dw|
