Consider this scenario: A town's population has been decreasing at a constant rate. In 2010 the population was 5,400. By 2013 the population had dropped 3,600. Assume this trend continues. Predict the population in 2016.

well the average rate of change will be the change in population divided by the number of years. You need to use the data points (2010, 5400) and (2013, 3600) the from there use the average and subtract it from 3600 to get the 2014 pop... then just keep repeating the process. Hope it helps
