Please help me :( I will give you a super shiny medal! :)
It deals with the z-score, b is incorrect, I'm not sure what I did wrong :(
so I know that the z score formula is: \[Population z-score: z=\frac{ x-\mu }{ \sigma }\]
May I just point out something from the passage:
First of all you should summarize the given information: 32-35 weeks, m=2800gr, SD= 600gr 40> , m= 3400gr, SD= 440 gr then you should compare a 34 weak baby who is 3250 gr with a 41 weeks baby with 3850 gr. In this regard, you have to subtract the weights from the the mean of the group they are belonged to. the 34 weeks baby belongs to the first group, so we have 3250-2800= 450 and 3850-3400=450 so you see that the differences are the same! therefore, you can compare them by dividing each 450 to the SD, which is for the first group 450/600= 0.72 and for the second group 450/440= 1.0227. So, choice C is the best answer.
for the 32 weeks, I did 2950 - 2500 = 450/700 =0.64
It seems to me that the 32 weeks would be relatively more.
Some lovely copy and paste skills. @mitu12
Also, what I stated was just an assumption based on the means, does not it is particularly correct.
does not mean*
For 32 weeks: "a 32-week gestation period baby weighs 2950 grams" Therefore makes it the x, right? so it's 2950 - 2500 = 450 / 700 = 0.64. For 40 weeks: "40-week gestation period baby weighs 3250 grams" So it's 3250 - 2800= 450 / 360 = 1.25? Wouldn't it natural-score is positive, it would indicate that the data value is above the mean?.. :(
Is my math correct? Or is my reasoning wrong? I'm not sure :c
I mean that logically makes sense, but it may just be the wrong values.
Isn't 1.25 larger than .64?
wait, I'm looking at the question problem that I chose... oops. B had worded it as: 40 weeks is larger because it's value is SMALLER than 30 weeks... oops, mitu was right, it was C, I read the answers wrong. oops.
Yes, it is C. Mitu copied and pasted from yahoo answers. :/
C. The baby born in week 40 weighs relatively more since its z-score, 1.25 is larger than the z-score of 0.64 for the baby born in week 32 oopsies.
it was from yahoo? :0
I already knew it was C, but what he pasted was exactly from yahoo answers, lol.
I had no idea, I feel kind of stupid now...
You're fine, just don't give him credit for plagiarism. >.<
oh ok :)
Good job!
