both have a resonant frequency which is related to their lengths. The tuning fork, being shorter, presumably, will resonate at a higher frequency than the pole. So, it depends on what drives them to oscillate. For a pole, it could be wind, and similarly for a tree. Bridges have been broken by the oscillations caused by wind turbulences. http://perendis.webs.com
