OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

Solve quadratic equation

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

Someone please help me see how they got this.

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

@ShadowLegendX

imqwerty (imqwerty):

See that denominator on the left Cross multiply and take it to the right and then bring all the terms to the left side of the equality

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

x^2 = 5.74 x 10^-4 * .122-x

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

Then x^2 - 5.74 x 10^-4 - .122-x ?

imqwerty (imqwerty):

Yeah correct so u have this- \(x^2-(5.74 \times 10^{-4})(0.122-x)\) Now simplify the brackets

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

Oh that is where I was messing up. I have to distribute the 5.74 x 10^-4.

imqwerty (imqwerty):

Yeah

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

So that is 7 x 10^-5 - 5.74 x 10^-4

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

Then I distribute the negative.

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

I understand now. Thank you!

imqwerty (imqwerty):

Correct And yw (:
