OpenStudy (mathmate):

To convert a repeating decimal to fraction, if the repetition starts right after the decimal point, just divide the repeating period by the same number of 9's in the denominator. For example, 0.048048048048... the period starts right after the decimal point, and is 048 so 0.048048048... = 048/999 = 16/333 If the repetition starts a little later, such as 2.534343434...., then split the number up into repeating and not repeating 2.5+0.034343434.... =2.5+0.34343434.../10 =2.5+(34/99)/10 =2.5+34/990 =2+(495+34)/990 =2 529/990
