56 = 2l +2w 

56 = 2(3y) +2(2y +3) 

56 = 6y +4y +6

50 = 10y 

y = 50/10

y = 5
                              
so the length of side XY will be equal 2y +3 = 2*5 +3 = 10 +3 = 13
