Algebra 7 Online
OpenStudy (romancelanguages):

My integrated algebra gave us this problem, I don't even know what she wants us to find, she just said solve this problem. link attached

OpenStudy (romancelanguages):

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

When you get one letter correct, now have to try the rest of it. Woot.

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

Well, my method didn't surpass level 2, so back to the drawing board.

OpenStudy (romancelanguages):

I still haven't figured it out

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

Method 2 looks promising as well, here goes to level 2 again. Lol.

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

Hmm, didn't work all the way through, guess I have to try something else.

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

Even tried diagonal, numerical implementation of values in regard to alphabetical position which would not work in the sense of W = WAD, so that does not work neither.

OpenStudy (romancelanguages):

Am I over thinking it to?

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

We probably are, I used limitations, divided in reference to alphabetical position in many different ways, and also attempted to convert them in several different ways which work for one letter, but not the whole thing as whole.

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

I keep overthinking so much to where, I am thinking about the lines in the letters giving them the value of 1, where a curve equals 2.. Which wouldn't be necessary. >.<

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

Hmm, what are you learning in your class right now?

OpenStudy (romancelanguages):

i just started high school and i'm in integrated algebra, we didn't learn anything yet, we just did this animal raft problem today, logic stuff.

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

In the animal raft puzzle, what techniques did you use?

OpenStudy (romancelanguages):

We haven't gone over it, but you have to use the information you observe to balance out the raft, like for example if an elephant is 2 polar bears, and a polar bear is 3 zebras you know that an elephant is equal to 6 zebras.

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

Hmm, well I am not sure what to do, my logic isn't going too swell with the logic of this puzzle.

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

I feel as it is simpler than I am taking it. Most logic puzzles are.

OpenStudy (romancelanguages):

Oh my what do I do

OpenStudy (welshfella):

you can be pretty sure that W stands for a 1.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

these are very tricky . You have to use logic and some guessing to see which numbers fit.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

D will be a 9 and O will be 0.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

this solution will fit the letters in the problem E=8.A=4,D=9,O=0,R=2,S=5,W=1. 18 428 9849 ------- 10295 and the addition is correct
