Additive inverse pretty much means the opposite of the number. If the number is 1, for example, the additive inverse will be -1. If it is -2, then the additive inverse will be 2.

where do the x go

OpenStudy (sushi121212):

The opposite of 5 will be 5 plus a negative since the opposite of a positive number is negative. It will be -5.
