Sorry, this is not correct. Remember cognates are words that look alike in two different languages and have the same meaning: Eg. chocolate / chocolat False cognates look alike but have different meanings. Eg. pencil / pinceau

@xobriley @vincent-lyon.fr has explained quite clearly what a cognate is. The words are given in French. If you find a similar word and means the same thing, it's a cognate. If you find a similar word that does NOT mean the same thing, it's a false cognate. Guessing will not help you in the long run! lol
