OpenStudy (alexh107):

Completing the square?

OpenStudy (alexh107):

Can someone tell me if I did anything wrong and how to finish it?

Nnesha (nnesha):

start from step 3 ? since the leading coefficient is not equal to 1, factor out 4 first and then complete the square :=))

Nnesha (nnesha):

actually 2nd step \[\huge\rm 4x^2-8x=5\] \[\huge\rm 4(x^2-2x)=5\] now complete the square and don't forget to multiply the common factor 4 by (b/2)^2 :=))

OpenStudy (alexh107):

Ah okay. I think I messed up a lot of it. I have to go now but I'll look back and correct it. Thank you.

Nnesha (nnesha):

ahh it's okay mistakes are good for learning alright let me know if you have question (to complete the square first try to get a=1 ) (a=leading coefficient )
