Ok so you see how there is an arrow on the two bottom horizontal lines? That indicates that they're parallel to eachother, meaning that the very top of the triangle where an angle is at is shared by both the big triangle and the smaller one. Also, because both lines are parallel both triangles also retain another angle that's used by both triangles meaning that both triangles are similar by AA(Angle-Angle). So this means they retain a proportion where the top left value (x) over the bottom left value (x+5) is the same as the (x-2)/(x+1)
