What do all the light metals have in common? All have the same number of electron shells. All have the same atomic weight. All have just 1 or 2 electrons in their outer orbit. All appear yellow under a microscope.

Honestly I'd go with "All have just 1 or 2 electrons in their outer orbit." Since that's what light metals have in common.
