I have a question about how the Roman Republic was governed" In my book it said... "Government was centered in the Senate, composed of some 300 members, and two consuls chosen by the Senate. Senators were elected by the citizenry. " However, on the next page of my infographic, it says the consuls chose the senate and the consuls were hired by the citizens; that the citizens chose the consuls and the consuls chose the senate. Yet, before that, on the page before that one, it says the senate chose the consuls and the senate was elected by the citizens. I'm super confused.
How was the senate chosen by the citizens if the consuls chose the senate? And how did the consuls choose the senate chose the consuls? And how did the citizens choose the senate if the senate was made by the consuls and the people supposedly elected the consuls to chose the senate?
what subject is this
