a suggestion to prevent direct answering (and other breaches of the CoC): How about registering users get redirected to the Code of Conduct, following form submission, that won't allow them to pass until they've actually read the rules?
isn't it the same ?? like you have to click on that box "You must agree to the terms and privacy policy to sign up. " then u will be able to make an acc how would we know if they really read it or not ?
i think `take a quiz` would be a good idea .. in order to make an acc they need to get all the questions right...hmm
but tbh those users who are already familiar with the coc and other rules still give DA..
yeah like @nnesha
a quiz would also work, yes @Nnesha :)
i do agree with a quiz +1
How will we know whether they read it or not ? You can't force anyone to read it. The most you can do is simply offer them a checkbox.
That's why I said quiz, @Conqueror Although I know of several websites/softwares that require you to at least scroll through the terms before you can hit the Submit button. o:
i am familiar with those websites :P but again..scrolling isn't the guarantee of reading the rules
If i was about to make an os acc then i'd just skip the coc and then i'd mark the most appropriate answers in the quiz (which is not so difficult) even tho i may not follow coc
meh, worth a shot o:
Yeah that can reduce DAs
I'm the fastest scroller in the south.
but at leasst you will read the statement ? right? if you get it right you will be able to make an account if not take a quiz again :P
That and it would reduce the amount of freakin' spam taggers who think I'm a virtual answer-machine. I literally got 8 tags in a row once
like i said some people don't really care there are some users who are familiar with the DAs rules but still.. providez direct ansawer
If they're under 75 SS I tend to hit report. lol
no. 99s...
Whats up with the picture ? @peachpi
somebody said something a while back, and I changed it to annoy them, and never changed it back
...
@Nnesha so I should report anyone under 99 ss? lol
no i didn't say that. I was saying 99s also givez DA
well that is true, but I think it is a bad habit and shouldn't spread to new users. Until they become as old as us veterans xD
@Nnesha quiz would be a good idea but what if someone passes the quiz and totally ignores the CoC
And what if on top of that no mods or admins are on
and no one reports
* but tbh those users who are already familiar with the coc and other rules still give DA..* yes as i mentioned it
I think it's good the way it is. When you are signing up for OpenStudy, and first thing that really pops up is the rules, could make you feel unwelcomed in a way, or give the vibe that OpenStudy is a really, really strict site. Having to scroll, that is far enough. Taking a test is a bit absurd. Some people already have enough tests as it is ;)
It's a controversial subject, but there will be Direct Answers, mass tagging, and w hole bunch more even if the CoC and TaC is read by everyone
