OpenStudy (jeevansreeram):

In a defective six-sided dice the probability of getting an odd number is twice the probability of getting an even number. What is the probability of getting 5 in a single throw? i knew the answer but i need clear explanation

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Since the probability of getting odd is twice getting even, you have these possible outcomes all equally probable: 1, 1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 5, 5, 6 There are 6 odd outcomes, and 3 even outcomes, or twice as many odds as evens. You are interested in an outcome of 5, so it's the number of outcomes of 5 over the total number of outcomes.
