OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):
\[2s^3 -4r^2 \]
OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):
\[2(5)^3 - 4(1)^2\]
OpenStudy (errrwut):
Equation: 2s^3 - 4r^2
r=1, s=5
What you want to do is substitute s = 5 and r =1 in the equation.
Wherever you see an s in the equation erase it and put parentheses ( ), inside the parentheses put the number 5 in it
2*(5)^3-4r^2
Just do the same for r too

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):
where did you get the 125?
OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):
\[5^3 = 5 \times 5 \times 5\]

hmm, why do you have that last line there, 5 times 5 times 5 = 25 times 5 = 125
OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):
Do you have to show how you got 125?
OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):
well I just wanted to put it there.
OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):
Ok, that's alright, keep going

What are we dividing, and by what?
OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):
125 divided by 5?
OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):
Why would you divide 125 by 5?
OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):
because s = 5?
OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):
But where in the expression, does it have the division sign

2(2) = 4
2 times 2 = 4
3(3) = 9
3 times 3 = 9
4(5) = 20
4 times 5 = 20
