What does "Bony prominence/prominent" and "projection" mean in bone markings?

Does projection and prominence means for parts of bones to stick out? Does projection and prominence mean the same thing?

Both mean the parts of the bone that sticks out.

Projections can include other specific bone features, such as condyle, which is `a smooth rounded projection` (Gray's Anatomy, 30th ed.)
