Can someone please explain this for me? c: Determine whether the probabilities below are computed using the classical method, empirical method, or subjective method. Complete parts (a) through (d) below. (a) The probability of having six girls in an six-child family is 0.015625. A.Empirical method B.Subjective method C.Classical method D.It is impossible to determine which method is used. (Please explain why :3)
It's classical based on theoretical assumptions that the outcomes (boy/girl) are equally likely to occur. They computed it using (0.5)^6 - 0.015625... Empirical means they examine populations (or sample) and see how frequently you get 6 girls among 6 child families. This is like tossing a coin 20 times and seeing how often you get heads. You may match the theoretical (classical) probability of 0.5 chance but you may not. Subjective is to do with how often one thinks something should occur based on personal experience, and is the most biased approach.
@mww thank you so much, you explained so much to me! sorry for the late reply, but i Understand it now. :) Thank you for your thorough eplaining
