my answer:
The line passes through the points
(-3, 5) and (2,-5)
To find the slope, we find the change in Y divided by change in X.
5 - - 2 / -3 - 2 = 10 / -5 = -2
The slope is -2
Y + 5 / x - 2 = -2
Y+5=-2(x-2)
Y+5=-2x+4
Y=-2x-1
Placing the inequality sign,
Y< -2x - 1

The inequality sign is wrong
OpenStudy (welshfella):
- the inequality sign
OpenStudy (3mar):
It seems you know what you do!
OpenStudy (welshfella):
looks like a typo on your second line - but you got the slope right
OpenStudy (welshfella):
it should be (5 - -5) / ( -3-2)

The equation of line can be written as
Y+2x=-1
Taking any arbitrary point in the shaded region i.e;(2,0).
0+2(2)=4 which is greater than -1
OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):
This implies tht the correct inequality representingthe shaded region is
Y greater than -2x-1
