OpenStudy (emmynimmy):

A rectangular picture frame has a perimeter of 70 inches and a width 3 inches shorter than its length. Find the area of the picture frame.

OpenStudy (emmynimmy):

____ in^2 (answer)

OpenStudy (krisssssssssssss):

Perimeter is the length around an object: So you have 2 widths and 2 height because there are 4 sides.

OpenStudy (krisssssssssssss):

so 70-6 because width x 2 is 6 is 64

OpenStudy (krisssssssssssss):

Because there are 2 lengths you would divide 64 by 2 an that would give you your answer

OpenStudy (emmynimmy):

okay so i will divide 64 by 2?

OpenStudy (emmynimmy):

32?

OpenStudy (emmynimmy):

it says it is incorrect.

OpenStudy (krisssssssssssss):

Yea

OpenStudy (krisssssssssssss):

did it ask for it squared or not

OpenStudy (emmynimmy):

yes thats what i put in the beginning, inches squared.

OpenStudy (krisssssssssssss):

oh sorry I didn't see that :(

OpenStudy (emmynimmy):

no worries! Thank you so much for helping me this far.

OpenStudy (krisssssssssssss):

But the issue was it shuld have been 64 squared because it doesn't want the length by its own it wants them combine

OpenStudy (emmynimmy):

it says 64 is incorrect.

OpenStudy (emmynimmy):
